Hey penguin slappers, it has been a while since I have posted anything new here. Since our last outing they have revamped the Blogger interface and it took me about 88 seconds to figure out where I was and how to do what I wanted to do.

Anyway, I know I said we wold not be posting anything until the current sitting POTUS and hater of fake news is ousted from power, but something has happened in this world which is more important than out political stance. I am of course talking about COVID 19 our 10th birthday/anniversary.

Every 100 posts, we pat ourselves on the back and share some of our best recieved stories since the last milestone. This is the 900th post since we started waaaaay back in the 1800's with the birth of the internet which was created as a joint effort between AOL, Western Union and Harriet Beecher Stowe. Sadly, just before her death in 1896 Stowe sold her 33.3% stake in the internet to Richard T. Google.

Thanks to each and every one of you who has visited our pages since July 2010. If only we charged a dollar for each visit, we would have enough money to hire a proper graphic designer who could get the images on our posts correct.

What were you doing on July 22nd 2010? I know what I was doing. I was starting one of the most popular penguin related satirical news sites on the entire interwebs, and now 5 years later I am still doing it because I haven't made enough money to retire yet.

It seems like only 10 months ago that we celebrated our last major visitor milestone of 300,000 visits, and yet here we are again, this time blowing our 400k trumpet.

It's time for us to blow our own trumpet once again, since nobody is going to blow it for us. We have managed to string together 800 posts in the 4 or so years since we started redefining satirical news. For those who are new to STP, our new definition of satirical news is:- a bunch of people with nothing better to do than turning crappy puns into so called news stories, and also making fun of celebrities along the way.

Today marks the 4th anniversary of Slap The Penguin. Actually, it is 4 years since My Twist News began, which then evolved into Slap The Penguin after about a year, and we have been evolving ever since. New writers, old material, product reviews and bad puns. Honestly, I don't know why we keep going, but we do.

Slap The Penguin hits 300,000 views

Here it is, another milestone in the life of Slap the Penguin. We have reached 300,000 views. One lucky person was the 300,000th visitor to our pages and if that person took a screen capture of the counter at the bottom of the screen then he/she/it could win a STP Jersey.

Reslap - Flo in Playboy - 3 Years On

3 years ago today our very own +Brad Naylor revealed that adult magazine Playboy would be featuring Flo from the Progressive Insurance commercials on their December 2010 cover. He posted the story on November 12th 2010 and since that day it has been our most viewed post of all time, averaging almost 500 visits per month.

Now that Back to the Future week is over we can return to some form of normality. That normality would be self congratulatory nonsense as we have just passed another milestone. Yesterday we published post number 600 and we still have a lot more to come with no immediate signs of improvement.

Today, Slap the Penguin celebrates reaching 500 posts. As editor, I have to admit that there is an awful lot of filler that helped us get to 500, but it is still an astounding achievement for us. We also got there before the 3rd anniversary celebrations coming up in just a few weeks.
