Wow, what a hectic week it's been. Then to top it all, snow. Anyway, better late than never, here is the rundown of what is being released this week. Due to a lack of credible music releases and a lack of imagination to string together an alternate list of 5 discs, I have resorted to reviewing the Amazon.com top 5 selling CDs of the year so far. And considering that the year is almost over then I can suggest with confidence that these will be the best selling CDs of the year period. You may notice that the list is dominated by women, and the top four are all 25 or younger.

Christmas is definitely cruising towards us at a rapid rate. Sifting through the festive fluff in order to find decent new releases was only moderately easier than last week. And, as usual, I didn't let you down and have highlighted 5 musical masterpieces for your consideration.

Another week, another weak selection of new releases. I was all set to create a list of the greatest CDs from 20 years ago, including Nirvana's Nevermind, Pop Will Eat Itself's Cure for Sanity and Doubt by Jesus Jones, but I forced myself to sit and listen and drink beer and write. Then I plugged myself into Pandora.com and clicked on '1991 Radio' to sterilize my ears.

Another list of whats hot (and sometimes not) in the world of popular music. We managed to remove all traces of Gwyneth Paltrow after last week's Gwynvasion. Our security systems have been updated and we are confident that it will not happen again. This week's new releases cover a broad spectrum of styles with a little something for everyone.

Is it just me, or is Gwyneth Paltrow getting into everything these days? She is dominating this week's new releases, and the new Coldplay CD is not even out until Fall. (For those who don't know, she is married to Chris Martin from Coldplay.)

February is Facial Hair month, so I have tried really hard to incorporate that into the reviews. Since this involves actually doing research and work, I have only 5 new releases for you.

Also, most of the new releases were pretty bad and I am finding it tough to find nice things to say about them. Nobody ever told me music journalism would be so tough.

New CD releases for December 21st

It seems that good music has started it's Christmas vacation already, leaving a big gaping hole for the remainder of the music industry to scramble for the vacant top spot. To use a Christmas analogy, there ain't nothin' left on this turkey but dark meat, gristle and bones.

Yeah, I said Christmas. Not Festive Season, not Holidays... CHRISTMAS.

Another week without country music? We knew that Country music was in a hiatus since Brooks and Dunn got divorced and everything coming out of Nashville recently has been Greatest Hits albums.

Finally a week of new releases with no country music. I had to dig out 2 soundtrack CD's and revive a cold dead crooner, but no country. Yeehaw!
