Happy fourth anniversary, STP

Today marks the 4th anniversary of Slap The Penguin. Actually, it is 4 years since My Twist News began, which then evolved into Slap The Penguin after about a year, and we have been evolving ever since. New writers, old material, product reviews and bad puns. Honestly, I don't know why we keep going, but we do.

For those of you who follow us daily, we thought it only fair to warn you that the STP summer break began officially at midnight (stp time) on July 20th. With the exception of pre-scheduled posts you wont see, hear or feel anything from us until August (hopefully).

Hoda Kotb changed her name to hide a big secret

Most American housewives who watch the fourth hour of the Today show are familiar with Kathy Lee Gifford's partner in wine, Hoda Kotb. While KLG's path to the Today show is well known, how many of you know Hoda Kotb's sordid past? Many of those 40 something housewives may be a little jealous.

Bomb disposal with Xfinity (Comcast)

Comcast are getting some bad press right now with the very public release of a phone call with a customer service representative. The Comcast representative was obnoxious and rude and did very little to offer satisfaction to the now ex-customer. By a twist of fate yesterday, I was stuck in an online chat box with Comcast over a billing issue, which took almost 2 hours to resolve; that's about 105 minutes longer than it should have taken in reality.

Marijuana Tequila legalized

By +Alexa Rankin

Just days after Washington State stores were legally permitted to sell cannabis, approval was given for the sale of the new 1800 tequila infused with marijuana, called 'Weedquila'; but only if you live in one of the 23 states where marijuana use is legal either medicinally or outright.

What got slapped 12 months ago - July 2013

By +Tina Cruris

July is already well underway, having already celebrated July 4th by overeating, overdrinking and arguing with family members over who let the brats get burned on the grill. It's time for a change of pace so we can review the STP highlights from 12 months ago.

I know some of you are familiar with how this works, but there are many others who are new to what we do, so for the reslap virgins, here is a crash course. I list some of out most popular and exciting posts from July 2013 and if any (or all) of them excite you then click the relevant links to read the full story. You can also navigate using the archive feature on the right side of your screen (unless you use the mobile version of our site - sorry). Have fun.

New Big Bang Theory game on the horizon

By +Alexa Rankin

Perhaps the title should have read on the 'Event Horizon', and perhaps BBT nerd +Brad Naylor should be writing this post. Everybody who watches Big Bang Theory knows that Sheldon Cooper is a theoretical physicist, and what better way to spend your down time than playing a game which is based entirely on understanding and interacting with physics?

Morrissey - Time Travelling Narcissist

By +Brad Naylor

Not many people know that Stephen Patrick Morrissey a.k.a. Morrissey was the singer and lyricist of the seminal 80's band The Smiths. Even fewer people are aware of Morrissey's time travel exploits.
