World Penguin Day

By +Ian C

Once again April 25th rolls around and we celebrate World Penguin Day. [WPD 2013] The Penguin is (mostly) the only animal which has a World Day all to itself. Have you ever heard of 'World Caterpillar Day' or 'World Lesser Long Eared Bat Day'? No, and with good reason. Penguins rock and all the other animals don't. Someone did try to start a World Lion Day last year on August 10th  but it won't last.

Captain America - World's Lamest Superhero

By +Brad Naylor

I felt it necessary to follow up on a comment from one of our readers on my Top 10 Superheroes post. A person calling himself Steve Rogers said "What about Captain America. He is an awesome superhero. He would kick anyone's ass." Well that's bullshit. Captain America is probably the worst superhero in the world. In my opinion he barely qualifies as a hero, without the 'super' prefix.

Can you name 5 Steven Seagal movies?

By +Alexa Rankin

Actor, producer and writer Steven Seagal has just celebrated his 62nd birthday and his 362nd pound this April. Many of you may know that Steven Seagal is an actor and some of you may even know that he is a seventh dan blackbelt in Aikido. "Aikido is the wussiest of all martial arts; there are no offensive skills, it's all about dodging attacks and throwing the attacker using his own body weight and momentum. It requires very little physical strength."

Geography Lesson from A Flock of Seagulls

By +Tina Cruris

The 80's were not known for good fashion sense, awesome haircuts or meaningful music, but the 80's were damn proud of their education system. It's a proven fact that those people who went to school in the 80's are much smarter than those who spent the 90's in school, and the 00's? Forget it, they cnt evn spl w/out autoerotic.

The first Sunday after the first full moon after the spring equinox, is also known as Easter Sunday, the day that Jesus rose again. However many people are also celebrating for another reason since today is 4/20, the biggest day in the calendar of pot smokers.

North Korea declare war on London barber shop

By +Alexa Rankin

The M&M Hair Academy in Ealing is in danger of being nuked by North Korea for insulting its premiere, Kim Jong Un. The West London salon has been using an image of the North Korean leader with the tag line 'Bad Hair Day...' Little did they know that the North Korean embassy is just a 3 minute walk from their barbershop, and they have been under surveillance throughout the month of April.

How the Pope spent Palm Sunday

By +Tina Cruris

Pope Francis spent a traditional Palm Sunday spreading the gospel and building up Catholics worldwide for the coming Holy week, which is one of the most important in the Christian calendar. His Holiness also focused on sending a message to children worldwide to reassure them that they can trust the Catholic Church, and that pedophile priests are a thing of the past.

Spring Break

By +Ian C

It's been a busy year for us so far and we deserve a break so we are taking a week off to recuperate. I know we should have told you earlier, but that's the thing about taking a break - nobody was in the STP virtual office to let you guys know. It's only because I wanted to check the STP email that I actually stopped in.

By +Tina Cruris

I hope April did not make a fool of you as the new month began. As usual, the first Sunday of the month is my chance to lead you around our top posts from this time last year. Some of you may remember these stories from real news media, and some of you may be totally oblivious to real life.

The way it works is really easy. The date and headline lead you naturally into a teaser of the post, which will hopefully be enough for you to investigate more. Simply click on the headline and you will be introduced to a new window containing that post from our archives. Brace yourselves, folks; you are in for a bumpy ride.

20 years since Kurt Cobain suicide

By +Alexa Rankin

Can you believe it is 2 decades since the sound of shotgun rang seemingly silently around an otherwise deserted Lake Washington home. This day 20 years ago is the coroner's best guess for when Kurt Cobain, driving force of the Grunge-Rock band Nirvana, apparently killed himself. The official report was a self-inflicted shotgun wound to the head.
