February Caption Contest

A new month means a new caption contest which also means we have to announce the winner of the January contest, but more about that later.

For those of you who are new to captioning, the idea is simple; take a look at the image below and come up with a witty caption which enhances the image in a humorous way. Then alert us to what your caption is by entering it in the COMMENTS SECTION below, adding it to our FACEBOOK PAGE or via EMAIL.

January Caption Contest

Happy 2014 to all our readers. Welcome to the first Caption Contest of the new year. Later in this post I will be revealing the winner of the December 2013 contest, but first lets get the new contest under way.

Veteran captioners will know how this works, new visitors will pick up the concept quickly. Simply send us a caption for the following image either using the COMMENTS, through our FACEBOOK PAGE or via EMAIL. Make sure you get it to us before the end of the month, contest closes midnight STP time on January 31st.

December Caption Contest

Now that December is upon us we can announce the winner of our November caption contest. It was an uneventful contest with very few entries so picking a winner was easy. You can find out if that was you a little later. First we have to introduce the final caption contest of 2013.

By now you must know how this works, send us a caption for the following image either using the COMMENTS, through our FACEBOOK PAGE or via EMAIL. Make sure you get it to us before the end of the month, contest closes midnight on December 31st.

First of all, I want to thank everybody who entered the October caption contest. We had some astoundingly funny captions and the winner will be announced below after the introduction to the November Caption Contest.

October Caption Contest

What an amazing response to the September contest. I will be announcing which of the 13 captioners is the lucky winner later in this post. But as is customary with this kind of ordeal, I shall first introduce the October image for your captioning consideration.

If anybody out there has yet to meet a caption contest then here is a brief summary of the rules.

August Caption Contest

Wow what an underwhelming response to the July contest. It almost makes me not want to bother with an August contest. However, it is totally possible that y'all were busy with vacations and stuff considering it was July, so I am going to offer one last chance.

Rules:

1. Look at image below

2. Create witty caption to enhance image

3. Submit caption by midnight (STP time) on 31st August by using the comments section or clicking HERE

4. Stop back periodically and see all those better entries you did not submit.

July Caption Contest

Welcome to the second half of the year, and since we are entering a new month then it must be time to launch the July caption contest. Thanks to everyone who entered the June contest; the winner is announced below.

The rules of the caption contest are simple. Look at the picture below and think of a witty tagline or caption to enhance the comedic value of the image. Then enter your caption HERE or in the comments section below. The funnier the caption, the more chance you have of winning. Please do not attempt to bribe the judges by emailing photos of yourself to boobypics@slapthepenguin.com.

June Caption Contest

It now says June on my calendar and so it must me time to launch the next caption contest. Thanks to everybody who entered the May contest, the winning caption is announced further down the page, but first we have to show you this month's image which needs an amusing caption.

Look at the picture, analyze all the details and generate a creative and amusing phrase which when combined with the picture causes a spontaneous humorous reaction, like LOLing or even LSHIPMP (laughing so hard I pissed my pants).

May Caption Contest

Happy May everyone. To celebrate a new month we have launched a new caption contest for your enjoyment. The concept is simple and is understood globally, but if you have been living under a rock, or in Wyoming, here are the instructions.

Look at the image below and think of a phrase which when used in conjunction with the image generates a humor related emotional response. This could be as subtle as a smile or as extreme as rolling on the floor or losing control of the bladder. In rare cases, all 3 have been recorded at the same time.

Once you have decided on your phrase, we encourage you to share your wit (not a Spoonerism) in the comments section, HERE. The funniest entry received before Midnight (STP time) on May 31st will be declared the winner.

April Caption Contest

One of the problems with taking so much time off is leaving people hanging over the results of the December Caption Contest. We will announce the winner of that contest below, but first we launch the April Contest.

Due to the lack of interest in people actually winning the $5 prize, we will not be offering any incentive to play, except for the fun aspect. I can't believe people did not want to win a $5 amazon.com gift card for doing next to nothing.

All you have to do is leave your funny caption for the following image in the comments section below, and the funniest entry will be declared the winner. You have until midnight (STP time) on April 30th to register your entry.

December Caption Contest

I know what you are going to say. "What happened to the November caption contest...?" The November caption contest never happened thanks to a collection of interesting reasons, which I am not going to get into. Suffice it to say, we had an extra month to decide who won the October Contest and a $5 Amazon.com e-card.

In order to be in with a chance of winning the last prize of 2012, you need to have a valid email address (to send you the prize) and be able to supply a funny caption for the image below. We now offer 2 ways to play.

Once again, the first of the month means that we can launch a new caption contest. The idea is simple, study the image below and create a caption to enhance the comedy element contained within. The winner will be announced this time next month.

As a special bonus, for the August Caption Contest, we are awarding a $5 amazon.com digital gift card to the winner. A valid email address is required to win the prize otherwise how can we send it to you. Anonymous entries will be shared for their comedic value but are ineligible for any prize. Slap the Penguin staff are also allowed to enter, but are excluded from winning anything (sorry guys). If this 'experiment' is succesful then we may consider offering prizes more often.

Wow it's good to be back after a 2 month lay-off. If I had any sense I would have been researching and writing instead of just sitting around and doing nothing. Anyway, I just happened to have this picture floating around (please don't ask why) and it seemed perfect for the June Caption Contest.

The premise is simple, but the execution is challenging. Simply come up with a caption which turns the following image from being mildly amusing but slightly scary to being bedwettingly funny. Once you have concocted a caption, just go to the comments section and type it in for everyones pleasure.

The STP caption contest is just for fun and we do not offer any prizes, unless you consider being highlighted on this website and being admired by your peers to be a prize.
