Windows XP eXPires

By +Tina Cruris

April 8th marks the end of an era for many computer users as Microsoft will cease to support their dinosaur edition of Windows known as XP. XP was the first operating system that I ever used when I finally caved in and bought a computer back in about 2002. My first memory of booting up the system was "Wow, look at that rolling green field; now how do I use this thing..."

March 14th is Pi Day

Being a fully qualified member of the Nerd species, it is my duty to report all news related to math, Sci-Fi and computers. For those of you who have not yet heard, today in the geek community is Pi Day. This actually only works in America because America is the only country dumb enough to put the month before the day when writing the date.

Spam

Spam was invented by Hormel in 1937, long before email was invented and back in those days it was a can of meat of dubious origin. There are several theories about how spam got it's name; SPiced hAM is the people's favorite, while others suggest that Special Processed American Meat is the how it got it's name. Either way it's still pretty dull food product.

Upskirting the law

The Slap the Penguin Guest Post Contest is still running and you still have time to enter. For more details about the contest click HERE. This post comes from a reader who only discovered our website a few weeks ago, Eve Summers. Let us know what you think of her entry...

Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick hastily signed a bill today to make taking upskirt pictures illegal. Taking pictures or video beneath a person's clothing without their permission is now unlawful. This legislature aims to protect the innocent miniskirt and loose shirt wearing population of Massachusetts from the growing popularity of upskirt, downblouse and spycam pictures and videos on the internet.

By +Alexa Rankin

French yogurt giant Dannon (Danone outside the USA) is now marketing it's Greek yogurt at a larger audience. And by larger audience I don't mean more people, I mean bigger people. Dannon are pushing the healthier aspect of Greek yogurt and suggesting that fat people should replace one meal a day with a single serving of Greek yogurt.

What got slapped 12 months ago - March 2013

by +Tina Cruris

Finally we can get back on track with our reslap posts after the rather long hiatus in early 2013. The purpose of these posts is to give new readers an insight into what we were doing 12 months ago, and to give seasoned veterans a reminder of how good this site used to be.

The premise is simple, I will post a headline and a brief synopsis from one of our key stories from this time last year, and if it tantalizes you then you click the link and are instantly whisked back in time to read the full story. (Actually, you aren't really whisked back in time, but a new window will open showing you the post from our archive.)
