What got slapped 12 months ago - November 2012

Happy November everyone. A new month means a new reslap (like a recap but for penguin fans) of what we were doing in November 2012. The Presidential election was big news this time last year so you can expect a smattering of politics on your journey through our archives. Don't panic though, we did more than just politics, and besides we offer unbiased and balanced political commentary.

Those of you who have been here before probably know how to use the sidebar archive, but for the new or lazy visitors, read on. We do all the hard work for you.

November 4th 2012 - Lucas sells Star Wars to Disney
This was the day that Leia Amidala Skywalker became a Disney princess. George Lucas sold his LucasFilm venture which includes the rights to the Star Wars franchise to Disney for an absurdly large amount of money. Lucas did not however surrender creative control, so Disneycorp cannot go entirely crazy with the brand and replace Disneyland security with Stormtroopers.

November 6th 2012 - Election Day Special
America voted for 4 more years, and it came down to just 3 states, Ohio, Florida and Virginia, known in political circles as Oh Flava, or it is now since Alexa coined the phrase a year ago.

We were there as the last vote was counted and eventually reported on the winner, a well as coming up with ideas to streamline the election process for 2016. Click the header to see if you agree with our radical thinking.

It was a quiet week so we gave our readers a virtual tour around the STP virtual office. It was quite a short tour and barely qualifies to be included in this reslap. Follow this link only if you have nothing better to do.

Morgan David, self proclaimed wine expert, was kind enough to share his wisdom once more. This time around he imposed his opinion about one of the hot wines of the moment, Beaujolais Nouveau. If you want to learn a little something about wine then check out his posts.

Bono is considered in some circles to be egomaniacal, and this post certainly leans towards that opinion. Many honors have been bestowed upon Lord Bono, but this one is probably the most memorable and ridiculous.

In celebration of one of the nations most popular holidays, we gave an insight into what the STP writers were thankful for 12 months ago. Most of these were not surprising considering most of the people who work here.

The 22nd was not Black Friday it was Grey Thursday, the new name for Thanksgiving Day. Not satisfied with starting holiday shopping the day after Thanksgiving, retailers are slowly convincing the public to begin shopping the pre-Black Friday sales on the evening of Thanksgiving. The major benefit of this is that you can kick your family out early on Thanksgiving with a believable reason for a change.

This time last year we were just hitting the 400 post milestone, and wondering how we ever managed it. We recently just hit the 600 mark and are even more bemused that nobody has pulled the plug yet. We don't even get paid for writing this nonsense.

There are hundreds of silly made up names out there as parents try to outdo each other to try to come up with a unique spelling or obscure variant of an existing names. Some are mash-ups of the parents names and others are made up at random using Scrabble (words with friends) tiles. Well these wacky parents are social media fans and named their new daughter Hashtag, and then tweeted about it. #dumbasses

That's it for November. Not much happening outside of the election and the holiday, so enjoy this shorter than usual reslap. Please use the comments section to share your thoughts and opinions. We do love hearing from you.
