Lucas sells Star Wars to Disney

The headline says it all, but here is a brief explanation as we see it. The latest reports suggest that George Lucas was fed up with tweaking and tinkering with his 6 Star Wars movies so he sold LucasFilm Ltd. to Disney Enterprises for the pitiful sum of $4.05 billion. That's billion with a 'b'.

This move paves the way for a slew of merchandising, spin-offs and even new Star Wars movies, which some suggest may be as close as 2015. Star Wars purists will be relieved to hear that Lucas contractually retains significant rights of creative control over the brand he created and built since 1971.

It also means that someone at Disney can take over the task of continually tweaking the movies until perfection is achieved. We got our hands on a scratchpad storyboard which a Disney artist has already started playing with.

Now it's your turn. Which Star Wars/Disney characters are interchangeable? So far the best one I have seen is Jar Jar Binks and Goofy. Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
