What color is Spock's uniform?

By +Brad Naylor

There were two major news stories this week and I aim to handle both of them in one post. Last Friday we lost the star of the beloved TV series 'Mission Impossible', Leonard Nimoy.

Leonard Nimoy - Mission Impossible

Nimoy was not just an actor, he was a singer and a devoted attendee of sci-fi conventions across the galaxy. Nimoy has always been synonymous with sci-fi having been the voice of Glavatron, the transforming robotic bad guy from the 1986 Transformers movie. Decades later he voiced Sentinel Prime in the 3rd Michael Bay Transformers movie. He only got the job because he was married to Susan Bay, who is Michael Bay's cousin.

Previously Leonard had flirted with sci-fi, playing a role in Gene Roddenberry's space series, Star Trek. The series was cancelled after 3 seasons and only 79 episodes leaving Nimoy's 'Mr. Spock' and his co-stars out in the cold.

It was on Star Trek that the indomitable question arose about the color of Spock's uniform. Was it black and blue or was it white and gold? Scientists have attempted to answer this question for nearly 40 years since Star Trek debuted, but without satisfaction.

We would also like to hear your thoughts about Leonard Nimoy's career. What was your favorite Leonard Nimoy song? Should they call the movie about his life, 'Finding Nimoy'? What was your favorite star trek episode? Use the comments section below to share.

LLAP Leonard Nimoy
