October 13th is No Bra Day

Yes ladies, today is the day when we can let the girls loose. Wait a minute, we need a special day to do that? I wonder which pervert thought up No Bra Day. I know that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and anything that draws attention to that is a good thing (donate here), but do we really need an allotted day when we should not wear a bra?

No Bra Day, not just for women
No Bra Day, not just for women
It may interest some of you to know that I am not wearing a bra right now. I am writing this post bra-less, and no, I am not going to post any pictures. This is entirely coincidental since I have a day off and I am lazing around the house in just my PJ's.

In the 1960's women burned their bras as a protest for women's rights. Discarding the male shackles and declaring their freedom and equality. The truth is that most women didn't actually burn their bras but did support the protest by refusing to wear a bra. Surprisingly, most men did not oppose this protest, and many actually supported the rights of women to go bra-less.

Since April 2011, a popular website called 'The Chive' continues to support the idea of women burning bras and going bra-less, and then sending photo evidence of the bra-lessness, but this may be more for simple titillation and increasing readership rather than for any other reason.

Back in May of this year, I reported on a Frenchman called Jaime Nichons, who presented the results of his 15 year study claiming that Women Don't Need Bras. The results were met with mixed reactions, with men mostly agreeing with Nichons' findings and women dismissing his study as unsupported nonsense (literally).

Whether you wore a bra or not today, don't forget the reasons behind me writing this post.
  1. Every time you hear the term 'No Bra Day' your first thought will be of Fat Bastard from the Austin powers movies. Scroll up for a visual reminder.
  2. To remind you about the importance of breast health. Do your breast self exam once a month and encourage a friend to do it too.
Squeeze a boob, Save a life.

Ahh, the joys of having someone to help with the chores of breast exams. I trust she reciprocated.
