Q10 - BlackBerry's last hope

by +Brad Naylor

You may have seen the commercials for the new Q10, the latest smartphone from free-falling phone maker, BlackBerry. Over the last 5 years, the Apple and Android operating systems have been making extraordinary leaps, leaving the BlackBerry OS languishing way behind.

A combination of poorly designed phones, glitchy software and an inability to move with the times almost sealed the fate of the once great telecom giant. Currently BlackBerry are in 5th place in the cell phone market behind Apple, Android, Windows and Fisher-Price. There is very little room in the smartphone market as the makers of the Windows OS are learning so BlackBerry need to do something amazing with their latest incarnation.

Yes, you read that correctly, Fisher-Price rank higher than BlackBerry in the smartphone market. Their FP-3 is the best selling smartphone in the 18-48 month demographic and is kicking BlackBerry's butt across the board. Incidentally the 5-13 age group  is owned by Apple and it's iPhone. Teens and young adults are rocking the Android. The middle aged are using iPhones and the old people are using the fogeyphone. Somewhere somebody must be using the Windows Phone but nobody is owning up to it.

Will the Q10 be strong enough to resurrect BlackBerry from certain death? I doubt it. The Q10 should be BlackBuried along with it's old school operating system. What do you think? Do you use a BlackBerry? Have you used a BlackBerry? Do you even know what a BlackBerry is? Let us know below in the comments section.

Meh, Blackberry just needs to go sit down somewhere. It's over. There's no coming back.
