Man has been at 'conflict status amber' with the whales since the July 21st attack in South Africa when a W-122 stealth whale, codename Moby, took out a yacht. Fortunately no-one was injured in the strike, but it set the tempo for one of natures strangest standoff's.
A whale taunts a human onlooker |
The whales have been seen swimming in close proximity to human vessels, taunting people by blowing water out of their blowholes and then diving underwater. Science believes that the whales are holding a grudge for what the Japanese Whalers did to their ancestors through previous centuries.
A confrontation today almost started a war between the 2 species when a cruise ship struck and killed a whale in Alaskan waters.
Captain Ishmael claimed, "The whale was playing chicken with us, swimming around the boat and taunting us. Then he just disappeared, we thought he had swum away. The next thing we know is BAM...sushi"
A whale spokesfish said, "Ooooooooooo-eeeeeeeee aaaaaaawwwwwwwwwww oooooooooooo", which translates to, "nobody wanted to destroy that yacht, it was a fluke event."
