What got slapped 12 months ago - 11/06/11

It looks like we had a quiet week last week. I thought at one point that I would be publishing back to back reslap posts until Ian and Alexa got in there earlier today. If you are wondering what a reslap is, it is a retrospective of what we were publishing 12 months ago. Also known as a TTLY (this time last year), we offer a guided tour of how this site was much better in 2011 than it is now. If you want to take things at your own pace then you can use the self-guided option otherwise just keep reading and everything will become clear.

Regular readers will know that the week usually started with Brad and his ritual hatred of the latest music releases, although considering the imminent release of the (old) new Twilight movie, he did a Twilight Special.

Another person who spent a lot of time in the news TTYL was Justin Bieber. This time around he was being accused of being a 'Baby Daddy' by someone called Mariah Yeater. Although she has had her 15 minutes of fame already, our reslap will give her another 90 seconds as an encore.

Twilight was a hot topic last year and one of the main characters is played by Taylor Lautner. You can learn all about him and his career so far in our Twilight Zone - Taylor Lautner post.

It seems kind of Inception like to have a reslap within a reslap, but that is what our next entry is. I was looking back at what is now 2 year old news.

And so back to Twilight. This time Kristen Stewart is the Twilight Highlight.

With the election just barely hours away (at the time of writing) we revisit a story about Barack Obama which could be pivotal to his re-election chances. 12 months ago, he announced the Christmas Tree Tax, which was universally slammed as being silly.

Does anybody remember Herman Cain? Last year he was one of about a dozen people in the running to stand against the President in the election this year. Unfortunately for him, everybody that he had sexually harassed in his previous jobs came back to haunt him and he faded from the political radar.

One of our biggest stories of November 2011 was published on 11/11/11. The number 11 has magical qualities in numerous cultures and the significance of a date made entirely from elevens raised it's power exponentially. Each of our writers shared what 11/11/11/ meant to them.

Thanks for taking a trip down memory lane with me. Let us know what you think of our efforts in the comments area below, or send us an email.
