Do you ever get a totally unrelated mental image when someone says a certain word or phrase? I do. There are 2 phrases that spawn a disturbing image in my mind. You can probably guess the first one since it is the title of the post.

The second reflex mental picture enters my head when some one says penal colony. I don’t know why but my brain projects this picture inside my head.

Before you call Sigmund Freud, let me get back on track with cockfighting. Cockfighting is a brutal bloodsport where 2 cocks fight to the death in a ring called the cockpit. Outlawed in the US and much of Europe, it is still prevalent in Asia and much of South America.

Some guy was killed by his own bird recently because the owners they tie razor blades, called cockspurs, to the legs of their birds. This particular bird stabbed his owner in the leg, severing his femoral artery causing him bleed to death.
