Regis Philbin replacement announced

Rumors are filling the interwebs about who Kelly Ripa's permanent co-host will be on 'Live with Regis and Kelly'. Some say Kelly's husband and occasional Regis substitute, Mark Consuelos will take the slot, while others claim that Anderson Cooper, another Philbin fill-in is favorite. My Twist News Slap The Penguin is pleased to exclusively announce Regis Philbin's successor.

Sorry, neither of you are man enough to take over from Regis

The soon to be vacant seat on the popular daytime TV show will be filled by Law and Order star, record producer, screenwriter and rapper Ice-T.

Ice T, playing it cool
Tracy 'Ice-T' Marrow was born in 1958 in Newark, New Jersey and moved to Los Angeles, California during 7th Grade. He spent 4 years in The US army after graduating high school, before beginning a successful music career, which included the role of lead singer of the band Body Count.

His acting career began in 1984 with the movie Breakin' followed by 1985's Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo. He also had roles in several serious movies such as New Jack City, Ricochet, Trespass and Johnny Mnemonic. However the role he is most remembered for is that of T-Saint, a mutant kangaroo from the 1995 movie Tank Girl.

"What is my motivation for this role?"
More recently Ice-T has been playing Odafin Tutuola on the popular crime series, Law & Order: SVU.

"I hear Regis is quitting 'Live' over a pay dispute"

Regis Philbin has been a constant on the Live show since 1983 when it was called The Morning Show, with Cyndey Garvey as co-host. Then in 1988, it went national with Kathie Lee Gifford riding shotgun until 2000 when 'Reeg' went solo for a year with guest hosts including his wife Joy. The show became 'Live with Regis and Kelly' in 2001 when soap actress Kelly Ripa jumped into the co-pilot seat and has remained that way ever since. However Kelly's “Big Daddy” Regis announced that this season will be his last and will retire from the show.

Gelman - "No noticeable changes to the format"

According to the shows producer, Michael 'Gelman' Gelman, the new format of the show will be titled 'Live with Ice and Kelly' and will not change drastically from it's current setup. Kelly will still play the martyr and complain constantly. The home viewer will receive a phone call and sound really confused, get a simple question wrong and not win a spa vacation in Cabo San Lucas. Blatant career promotional interviews with celebrities will then fill the remaining 28 minutes.
Ice T has a sense of humor
Ice T demonstrates his sense of humor

Gelman also told us, "Tracy is the ideal choice for the role since he has a sense of humor and doesn't mind poking fun at himself, just look at Tank Girl. He has the kind of personality that when he complains about something, people will sit up and listen, and even though he has had a controversial past including the Body Count song, 'Cop Killer' he has become a respected household name as he has matured.. I am confident he will bring in some new demographics while keeping current fans happy."

Ice T will jump into Regis's still warm chair in the fall, when the new season kicks off. Remember, you read it here first.
