Free Beer on Wednesday

Anheuser Busch's ailing Budweiser brand is giving away free beer on Wednesday 29th under the guise of National Happy Hour. Half a million lucky(?) drinkers will receive a free can if they are fortunate enough to be at one of the participating bars and restaurants.

With 2 consecutive years of declining sales for the bland tasting beer, Budweiser needs to reclaim lost drinkers from the growing craft beer sector. AB executives think that letting people drink Bud for free is the best way to do that. Isn't drinking Budweiser what made them choose to try something else in the first place?

Budweiser's second best option to increase sales is to build brand awareness amongst future drinkers through clever marketing and sponsorships while maintaining a visibly strong stand opposing the use of alcohol by anyone under the age of 21.

Their number 1 strategy to increase sales should be to ensure that their beer does not taste like crap.
