What would Hitler's social media look like?

By +Brad Naylor

I know facebook is only 11 years old, and Adolf Hitler died 70 years ago, but can you imagine what his social media accounts would look like if the internet was around during World War II?

You could have followed Hitler on facebook on his personal profile or his business page "The Reich Stuff", as well as on Twitter - @TheFuhrer18 (someone beat him to @TheFuhrer). He would have used facebook and Twitter to recruit supporters and to organise and synchronise his invasion plans.

Adolf would have also used Twitter to live tweet his invasions and exploits as well as to serve propaganda to the allied troops.

I am sure Adolf probably would have taken advantage of Instagram and it's collection of filters to promote himself. Here is a Hitler selfie and a couple of variations which he may have pondered before posting on Instagram.

I wonder how long it would have taken for Hitler's social media accounts to be blocked or suspended for spouting his own personal brand of antisocial hate speech. After all he did target people for destruction based on race, religion, sexual orientation and whether or not they accepted his friend requests.

How would social media be affected by another World War? Would we see mass unfriendings between people of warring nations? Would national security regulations step in and close social media channels? Would it be used for propaganda and could it be used to organize invasions or resistance movements? Share your opinions below.
