Hitler - Ahmedabad's newest clothing store |
In the 10 days since unveiling the new store's image, co-owner Rajesh Shah has received numerous complaints and comments, and has been petitioned to change the store's name.
"I would happily rebrand the store with a less offensive name if somebody would reimburse the costs of such an undertaking," Rajash said. "It would cost in the region of 150,000 rupees ($3,000) to put up a new sign and reprint business cards and other branded items."

A Hitler business card - the swastika is a nice touch |
Shah says he has been approached by Jewish community leaders who have educated him about Adolf Hitler and the horror of the Holocaust, which he claims he was totally unaware of. "In my circle, the word 'Hitler' was a nickname for a very strict person and I thought it would be a catchy name for our store"
Since India is thousands of miles away and we are a small budget operation, we were unable to get any images of the inside of the store, but we imagine that the racks would look something like this.

Fall fashion avaialable at Hitler |
We asked Rajesh if they planned to open any other stores, he eventually said "No" after a long, telling pause. We guess that they may be considering to follow the lead set by major US brands like Gap and opening a store for children's clothes.

Well, that's one way to get your store noticed and attract attention for business.
What I don't understand is why, during all the preperation and planning, someone somewhere wasn't able to give him a clue.
Holy cripes! What idiocy. My prediction? He will lose most of his money and all of his respect.
