Slap the Penguin welcomes Windows 10 users

By +Brad Naylor

Do you have Windows 10 yet? It seems that although Microsoft are claiming that Windows 10 has been installed on almost 100 million devices, only a small percentage of those devices have visited slapthepenguin.com. According to our analytics, during the month of August less than 1.5% of visits to our pages came from a device running Windows 10.

Upgrading to Windows 10 can be a pane
Many people wanted to wait until the kinks were ironed out (long wait) before upgrading, while others had difficulty upgrading, and some are still waiting for the little window in the taskbar to tell them that their download is ready. Whatever the reason, 98% of our visitors have not used Windows 10 to come and see us.

So far it seems that Europeans and Australians are embracing Windows 10 more than other regions. The Belgians even downloaded Windows 10 in such quantities that it created a static build up which caused multiple lightning strikes on a Google data center in St. Ghislain on August 19th. Thankfully very little data was corrupted and what was lost was mostly just waffle recipes.

My personal theory on the low turnout from Windows 10 users is Cortana, the 'face' of the Windows search tool. Those people who have not bookmarked our page, or connected to us through social media may not be able to find us with Cortana at the helm. She has already proven her limited capabilities on the Windows Smartphone OS going up against OK Google and Siri, and is continuing to struggle as an integrated feature of Windows 10.

It's not all bad when it comes to Windows 10, the best thing about it is the multiple desktop feature. I can create work and leisure desktops on the same profile and switch between the two when the boss comes around. If you are curious why Microsoft jumped from 8 to 10 then read THIS.

It doesn't really matter what you use to visit us, we are just happy to see you. Share your thoughts below in the comments section.
