Austin Powers 4 - Mike Myers says "Yeah, baby"

Does this news make you horny?

Mike Myers has recently confirmed that the next movie in the Austin Powers series is in the works. The Powers character and his cronies have seen a brief resurgence in a Verizon commercial being shown during World Cup soccer matches, and Myers believes it is time to bring the same tired old jokes to a new generation.

Allow me to introduce... myself
The self-proclaimed International Man of Mystery first hit the screen almost 30 years ago in Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery; a tale of a suave British 1960 spy defrosted in the 90s to foil the plot of his imaginatively named evil arch nemesis, Dr. Evil. The entire movie revolved around cringe comedy regarding an out of place out of time character who is so characteristically self-absorbed that he doesn’t even try to adapt to the modern surroundings.

AP2 and AP3 did not change up the formula too much, but they did add the Bond like suggestive subtitles of ‘The Spy Who Shagged Me’, and ‘Goldmember’, and now the talk is about what clever movie name modification they are going to append to the fourth movie. Personally, I like ‘Sequels are Forever’ or following Myers’ suggestive style possibly ‘Thunderballs’

Given that the 90s audience were shocked by the misogynistic Myers, swinging his sexism through the movie, how is the 2020s audience going to handle it? Yes, it’s a parody of the 60s spy genre, just as Blazing Saddles is a parody of the Wild West, and the Millennials run and hide even from the ultra-censored TV version of that movie.

If you don’t laugh at this image then you should probably skip the movie

Austin Powers 4 is coming, but whether it will be as popular or as successful as the previous 3 incarnations remains to be seen. I am sure those who know and love the movies from the first go around will watch the new one, but I don’t think there is much of a new audience to make it a huge success.
