Game of Thrones

The HBO series, Game of Thrones has suddenly become the latest worldwide sensation following on the heels of planking and Tebowing. The franchise has spawned a huge range of associated merchandise including beers from Ommegang Brewery, IKEA furniture and a guy called George R.R. Martin has even written a spin-off book series.

There is all manner of GoT merchandise to be had from board games to plush dolls, from mugs to jewelry and probably somewhere, a life size cardboard cut-out of Sean Bean's 'Lord Eddard Stark' character. To be brutally honest with you, I haven't seen it so I have absolutely no idea what the show is about, except for what I read online.

It seems to be loosely based on the War of the Roses, and borrows strongly from other great British moments in history, all renamed for the sake of fiction. No wonder it's so popular in the US, we don't have that kind of heritage here, so we are extrapolating somebody else's for our own enjoyment. Leave me some comments below and let me know if it's worth streaming a few episodes from Season 1.
